Applications for the 2012 Rebecca Gregory Scholarship will open in the latter part of 2012.
The Scholarship is open to managers of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent from the public and private sectors across NSW & ACT. To be eligible for the AIM Rebecca Gregory Indigenous Scholarship 2012 an Applicant must be a resident of NSW or the ACT and have submitted the full requirements of the Application by the closing date. Applicants do not need to have academic qualifications or be a Member of the Australian Institute of Management NSW & ACT. At the final short-list stage, Applicants may be asked to provide proof of descent. You will need to assemble the following information for your Application.
1. Complete a 300 word management essay
Prepare a management essay of approximately 300 words in response to the following question. "I believe the most important contribution I can make to management in an organisation today is... and explain why" Your essay should be submitted online, or on standard A4 paper in typed form.
2. Provide a letter of support from your employer or an Aboriginal organisation
Include a letter from your employer or an Aboriginal organisation that supports your application for the Scholarship.
3. Identify two referees
Include the names and contact details of your referees. Please note their details on the Application Cover Sheet. These referees may be contacted and their details presented to the Chair of the Judging Panel should they require further information. Referees may include employers, immediate supervisors, business partners, or prominent members of the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community. All referee information is confidential and all Judging Panel members for the AIM Rebecca Gregory Indigenous Scholarship 2012 will sign confidentiality agreements.

Managers are, by definition, extremely busy people. With this in mind, we have kept the Scholarship process as simple as possible and it should not be too time intensive.
Stage 1: Applications
Closing date: 31 October 2011
To be considered for the Scholarship you need to submit a 300 word management essay, the names of two referees, a letter of support from your current employer or an Aboriginal organisation and the completed Application Cover Sheet.
Stage 2: Judging
From November 2011 short-listed Scholarship candidates will be required to attend a personal interview with a Judging Panel of management experts at the AIM offices in North Sydney. AIM will advise you in advance of the date, time and place of the interview.
The Judging Panel will determine the Scholarship Winner.
Stage 3: Presentation of the Winner
All short-listed candidates will be advised of the outcome of the judging process during mid to late November 2011. The Scholarship Winner and a guest will be invited to a special presentation event in Sydney in early December to receive the AIM Rebecca Gregory Indigenous Scholarship 2011.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply you must:
- Be a leader and/or manager of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- Be a resident of NSW or the ACT.
- Complete and submit the Application to AIM by close of business 31 October 2011.
The Judging Criteria for assessing the short-listed Applications will include (but will not be limited to):
- The best 300 word written response to the management question, "I believe the most important contribution I can make to management in an organisation today is... and explain why" The Judging Criteria for assessing the short-listed Applicants will include (but will not be limited to):
- Verbal responses to the Judging Panel interviews containing a set of predetermined questions on management.
- Demonstration to the Judging Panel that the Applicant exemplifies high standards of management within their community and sphere of influence.
Prize
The recipient will receive:
- AIM NSW & ACT Diploma Qualification training of their choice to the value of $6,000
- 12 months AIM Personal Membership, valued at $379
- Travel and accommodation allowance to attend their AIM training and to encourage those from regional areas to apply, to the value of $2,000

Tina Baum, an Indigenous woman of the Larrakia / Wadaman / Karajarri peoples, has more than 20 years experience working collaboratively with a variety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and artists throughout Australia, and has been with the National Gallery of Australia since 2005. Prior to her current role, Ms Baum has worked as a curator at the Queensland Museum, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and the National Museum of Australia.
Tina has demonstrated strong dedication and passion for her work, which reflected positively in her abilities as an effective leader and manager.
